THE corner pizza shop

born in East Rock, since 2016

Tucked into the neighborhood on Foster and Willow, One6Three is our cozy little spot. We're Alexa and Andrew, a husband and wife team, and we've been making pies our way since February 2016.

THE PIES

Apizza-ish, not by the book. Thin crust, but not too thin, with a little char from the wood-fired oven. The dough recipe is all Andrew's.

He's been making pies since he was 15, and we actually met while working on my family's pizza trucks → Old World Pizza Truck here in New Haven.

the menu

When it came to building the menu, that was my turf (hi, Alexa here). Every recipe is either something I created or something rooted in my family's cooking. Our food comes from places we've actually been and dishes we've loved. Like our take on chicken and waffles (in sandwich form) inspired by a trip to the South, poutine from a hockey road trip through Central Canada, and a Cuban sandwich that nods to me living in South Florida when I was a kid. And pizza? That's where it all started.

Just about everything is made from scratch, every day, right behind our copper bar where you can watch: the dough, sauces, dressings, pickles, croutons (from leftover bread, so nothing goes to waste), & a whole lot more. If it's on the menu, we probably made it. Our sandwich bread is from Venice Bakery in Hamden & our cheese curds are from Ellsworth Creamery in Wisconsin. Some of the only things we don't make? Ketchup & blue cheese. Sorry, we can't do everything.

OUR CORNER

Inside, you'll find tables Andrew made himself, a bench and bar that Andrew and my dad, Jack, built and stained together, and a laid-back space that fits the neighborhood around us. When it's warm, we've got dog-friendly outdoor seating, too.

And that wall of wood? We needed to do something with it, so we stacked our own. Then my uncle randomly signed a piece one day while eating here, and the rest is history. Ask us for a marker and add your name.

DEATH BEFORE DEEP DISH

Oh, and we're BYOB. So bring your favorite drink, grab a pie, and hang out!
